Eugene Chua

Mr. Eugene Chua, a distinguished entrepreneur from Malaysia, is the founder and chairman of G-COVE Group, a material science technology and global leader in plant-fiber sustainable packaging. With over 20 years of dedication to environmental innovation, he has emerged as a trailblazer in the fields of sustainability and the circular economy.

Before founding G-COVE, Mr. Chua held senior positions in Fortune 500 companies, serving as Senior Manager at Intel and Global Procurement & Supply Chain Director at Dell. He was co-founded Unisource Global Solutions Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company. In 2009, he spearheaded the certification of China’s bamboo forests under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), becoming the first person in the world to achieve this milestone.

In 2017, Mr. Chua launched G-COVE, leading the company to become a globally recognized pioneer in plant-based packaging. Under his leadership, G-COVE has received numerous prestigious awards, including China Business Innovation 50 (CBN), Asia Entrepreneur of the Year, Green Apple Award, Green World Ambassador, and China ESG Pioneer Award. He has also been honoured with the Malaysia Sustainable Development Contribution Award and the Malaysia ESG ADR Excellence Award. The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia has recognized him as a “Sustainability Trailblazer” for his groundbreaking contributions to the environmental sector.

Committed to driving the circular economy, Mr. Chua has led G-COVE in eliminating 7.2 million tons of plastic waste and reducing over 10 million tons of carbon emissions, establishing the company as a Hurun Wealth Unicorn and 2024 ESG Enterprise Excellent Award in China.

Beyond corporate success, Mr. Chua plays a vital role in fostering Malaysia-China economic relations. As Vice President of the Malaysia Jiangsu and Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce (MAYCHAM) and Investment Ambassador for Sichuan Province, China, he actively promotes cross-border collaboration, creates business opportunities, and accelerates sustainable trade between the two nations.
